Infact it is better because whatever happens to the Guest Operating System has zero effect on the Host Operating System. Also, you will not loose your downloads when you shut down. They are safe. The only issue is that of transferring them from the guest operating system to the host operating system so that you can still access them even when the guest operating system is shut down. I have been using VirtualBox for some time now, and I have had no issue with its performance. I guess that is why SunSystem bought it over. @Chukwudi
